NDIS Local Area Coordination (LAC)
Baptcare partners with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as a Partner in the Community in various locations in South Australia and Tasmania delivering Local Area Coordination (LAC). We help people with disability get the supports they need to live the life they want and be included in their community.
Local Area Coordinators work with people living with disability in their community to build their capacity to access government services and supports and participate fully as community members. Local Area Coordinators also work directly with people with disability who have met the NDIS access requirements (check your eligibility here), to understand how the NDIS can support them to live independent lives. Put simply, we work with you to understand what is important to you, what you want to achieve from your NDIS plan, and can support you to work out the best way to implement your plan once you have it approved.
The NDIA provides a lot of information about the NDIS. To find out about the NDIS, planning and community supports click here. https://www.ndis.gov.au/participants.
How we help
In our LAC role, we support people in the community, including people with disability and their families and carers, to understand, navigate and access the NDIS.
For those who meet Access Requirements, our Local Area Coordinators will assist you to:
- Discuss your needs and goals
- Connect you to supports in your community
- Submit your support needs and goals to have the NDIA Planners create your plan
- Put you plan into action
- Access information and link up with services that meet your needs
- Review your plan
We also work with communities to promote social inclusion and opportunities for people with a disability. We provide a range of workshops and information sessions about the NDIS too. If you would like us to provide such a session to a group, then fill in this form and return it to us at baptcare.sa@ndis.gov.au
