It was the event of the season on the Ton, or should I say Abbey-ton. High Tea was the order of the day, with fresh, hot bites, scones, and delectable, handmade desserts.
Last week, Abbey Gardens Aged Care community in Warragul, Victoria, put on quite the event for their beloved residents.
Abbey Gardens reflects the spirit and vibrancy of Warragul and the surrounding area. Many residents have known each other for years, and connections between staff and residents alike make for a tight-knit, active aged care community.
The multipurpose room was transformed into a High Tea salon to rival the Ritz, as residents posed for photos upon entering the event of the season.
There were violinists, dancing entertainment, teapots, fancy cups and of course, beautiful food, all made in-house by the dedicated catering team. Residents enjoyed High Tea with savoury bites (the camembert bites were particularly tasty), followed by towers of sweet treats and, of course, scones with jam and cream (jam first, obviously) to finish off the afternoon with a hot cuppa.
Kim, Lifestyle Coordinator at Abbey Gardens, and her team of dedicated Lifestyle Assistants and volunteers truly went above and beyond to transform the space into something out of 18th-century England. It was astonishing!
Handmade decorations by residents and staff, such as headdresses for the model mannequins, handmade tulips and roses that dripped from the walls and more. Beautiful flower arrangements from local florist Millstream Flowers adorned tables and walls, adding even more glamour and lushness to the affair. The team have been preparing for weeks and weeks to make Abbeyton come to life.
This is one of Abbey Gardens’ quarterly events, which brings many residents together to enjoy some food, entertainment and company.
The atmosphere was pure joy and everyone left with a big smile on their face.
The staff went above and beyond to make this event a success and we can’t wait to see what the next themed event will be. No doubt Kim, her team and the residents already have their thinking hats on.
There we have it, gentle reader, an afternoon to remember!
