Life at Baptcare Wyndham Lodge residential aged care

A thriving community

Wyndham Lodge was founded and initially run by a group of dedicated locals who relied on the fundraising efforts of volunteer organisations like the Ladies Auxiliary to help grow and advance the site. This sense of community remains an important part of Wyndham Lodge today, with Baptcare continuing the tradition and providing a warm, inviting environment where everyone feels welcome.

Thoughtful design

Wyndham Lodge was fully redeveloped in 2016, with a focus on creating contemporary living spaces that would preserve and enhance the site’s sense of community while catering for regional growth. Residents and visitors can now choose to spend time together in a range of specially designed spaces from attractive landscaped courtyards and indoor winter gardens to light and bright communal areas overlooking local parklands and waterways.

Innovative solutions to personal care

While a key part of the recent redevelopment was ensuring the site retained its community feel, Wyndham Lodge is also now home to the latest innovations in aged care. So you’ll see state-of-the-art technology like concealed ceiling hoists and hi lo beds – to help move less mobile residents comfortably in and out of bed – alongside stunning floor-to-ceiling windows that take in ‘the best views in Wyndham’.

A new choice in care

Between 2014 and 2015, Wyndham had the largest population growth in Victoria. The recent expansion of Wyndham Lodge provides older people in areas like Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit, a genuinely local option for quality residential aged care – and is in keeping with the site’s original purpose to serve its community well.

A place where you can feel at home

Wyndham Lodge is a modern, four-storey building with 150 rooms, catering to all levels of care. Each floor has its own dedicated living and dining spaces, allowing residents to feel part of their own small community, despite the overall size of the property. Residents do not have to negotiate levels or walk far from their rooms to get to communal areas, which gives them the confidence to move freely between these spaces and socialise with other residents.

Room types

Every room at Wyndham Lodge is sole-occupied so residents can be assured of having their own private space, which they can style to their own personal taste. There are three different rooms types – see pricing snapshot for full details. All rooms are spacious and light-filled with:
* Ensuite bathroom (either shared or private ensuite, all with nurse call button)
* Quality furniture and fittings
* A flat-screen TV (Foxtel available at an additional cost)
* Individually controlled air-conditioning and hydronic heating
* Built-in wardrobes with lockable storage
* Picture rails and built-in display shelving
* Light above bed
* Fully integrated nurse alarm system
* Pleasant city, mountain or garden views
* Neutral palettes and tasteful decor.

Memory support unit

Wyndham Lodge also has a dedicated 15-bed Memory Support Unit offering sensitive and attentive care for individuals living with dementia.

Couples accommodation

We do our very best to accommodate couples by allocating them rooms either opposite or next to each other.

Pet accommodation

While pets cannot stay with residents, they are very welcome to visit with family or friends

Relatives and friends are welcome to join you for meals with advance booking.

Keep up with your favourite past-times

At Wyndham Lodge, we aim to provide a relaxing but vibrant environment. We offer a broad range of social activities, including river walks, concerts, movies, board/card games, Italian club and regular bus outings. We also have several different specialist interest groups, e.g. gardening, knitting circle and leather craft, to provide residents with continued access to their favourite hobbies. Additional amenities include our on-site library, hairdressing salon, kiosk and chapel. The entrance to Wyndham Lodge has been uniquely designed to reflect a typical high street and houses separate ‘store fronts’ for the salon, kiosk and main nurses station.

Stay involved with the local community

Wyndham Lodge is conveniently located to nearby shops and restaurants, as well as a bowls club and supermarket, so residents can easily get out and about in their local community. We provide bus transport to enable group outings and day-trips. This community connection extends to the younger generation with local school students regularly volunteering and performing at Wyndham Lodge, e.g. carols, dancing.

Room to host family and friends

Above all, Wyndham Lodge is your home, so your friends and family are always welcome here. You can choose to spend time with them in our beautiful shared areas, or we also have private function rooms that you can book for special occasions.

Pastoral care

Pastoral care is an important part of life at all Baptcare communities, including Wyndham Lodge. Our chaplains are available to listen to residents and their families and journey alongside them, whatever their background or situation. We offer emotional and spiritual support, honouring each person’s unique spirituality and how they find meaning and purpose. Our chaplains also assist with prayer, worship, sacraments and other spiritual practices, including regular devotional and church services where appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if residential aged care is right for my family member?

A change in health, or increasing concern about your family member’s frailty, safety or isolation at home can mean that aged care accommodation is the next step.

Carers at aged care homes can help residents with day-to-day tasks (such as cleaning, cooking, laundry); personal care (such as dressing, grooming, going to the toilet); or 24-hour nursing care (such as wound care or catheter care).

Residential aged care can also help people to stay connected with interests and with others.

Baptcare draws on over 70 years’ experience in aged care as well as the skills and commitment of our trained, understanding staff. We’re here to support families during a transition that can be challenging.

Do you have any vacancies? How do you manage waiting lists?

We invite you to contact us to discuss current or potential future accommodation and if it matches your needs.

If you are interested but there isn’t a vacancy we’ll record your details on our waiting list and keep in touch about potential vacancies.

Potential residents, families and healthcare professionals are welcome to contact us to get an update on vacancies at any time.

We consider a number of factors to manage our waiting lists. People in urgent need are the highest priority. Other factors include someone’s readiness to enter an aged care home, and if the accommodation that becomes available suits their individual care needs.

If you are offered a room and are not ready at that time you can decline the room without it affecting your position on the waiting list.
