We will remember them

It is a privilege at Baptcare to acknowledge and stand with the returned service-people residing in our Baptcare homes.

In the midst of Anzac Day services, stories directly from the field were sensitively shared and held. Our Chaplains offered wise words and care for those who remember daily, the impact of serving the country in this way.

In one centre a commemoration was shared using the intercom so all could participate, while a returned serviceman laid a wreath in the garden under the flag.

Together, residents and lifestyle co-ordinators led a range of activities to honour the event – including creating displays, making wreaths and baking treats for afternoon teas. The handmade wreaths at Amberlea contained crocheted poppies and handpicked flowers from the garden.

These events symbolised the importance of remembering this sacrifice each day.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
