
Step 3 – Attend Shared Lives training
Receive in-depth training about fostering children and child safety as well as a range of comprehensive resources to support you throughout your foster care journey.
Shared Lives is the training program for prospective foster carers. The program provides tools, a clear framework and a systematic way of sharing important information about foster care.
The course is designed to assist participants to make informed choices about whether caring is an appropriate role for them and provides induction training designed to provide information to prepare a carer for the commencement of a placement.
The training modules cover topics such as: brain development and developmental trauma; children’s ability to regulate emotions; culture and identity; impacts on carers’ children; and working as part of a foster care team.
