BaptistCare Macquarie Park master plan approved

BaptistCare is pleased to announce that its State Significant Development (SSD) application for the Macquarie Park master plan has been approved by the NSW Department of Planning.

This marks a landmark moment for an exciting, future-focused development that will deliver homes, care and a genuine sense of community in one of Sydney’s fastest-growing precincts, while directly addressing two of Australia’s most pressing challenges – affordable housing shortages and increasing demand for aged care.

BaptistCare Chief Executive Officer Charles Moore said the approval marks the beginning of something genuinely exciting.

“We’ve been part of the Macquarie Park community since 1962, and this development isn’t just a development, it’s an example of how we are focused on enriching lives through creating communities of care. A place where a grandparent in aged care and their grandchild studying at Macquarie University could be neighbours. Where affordable housing sites alongside a public park that everyone can enjoy.”

The master plan includes a mix of residential apartments, independent living units, residential aged care, affordable housing and student accommodation on a single connected site. More than 40 per cent of the precinct will be dedicated to green space, including a one-hectare public park, a pocket park and landscaped green edges open to the community.

A public piazza will anchor the community, with strong pedestrian, cycling and vehicle connections to Macquarie University and Macquarie Centre.

This landmark development will support Greater Sydney’s liveability and sustainability goals and benefit thousands of people at all stages of life.

There will be no immediate changes on site for existing aged care home residents or our employees, as we continue detailed planning and approvals for each phase and building of the master plan.
