Residential aged care homes
Feel right at home, with the right care.

On this page:
As your needs change, living independently at home can become more challenging.
There may come a time when having nurses and personal care close by helps you feel safer and more at ease. If you or someone you love no longer feel comfortable living at home, you can choose to move into a community where care is available whenever you need it.
Whether you’re looking for a short period of respite, or something longer-term, residential aged care is about helping you feel right at home, with the right care. At BaptistCare, we’re here to listen, walk alongside you and help you find the place that feels right for you.
Because living in an aged care community is not just about care – it’s about feeling comfortable, supported and living life your way.

Available care and support
At BaptistCare, we provide the care you need and the support you want, so that you can continue to live life your way.
Your wellbeing and way of living come first in our aged care communities. We work with you and your family to create a care plan that reflects your routines, preferences and what matters most to you, so that you can get the most out of every day. We regularly invite you to have your say about our menu, activities and services too – after all.
Lifestyle activities
At BaptistCare, your presence makes our close-knit residential aged care communities even richer. From sharing a meal to cooking a meal, you can enjoy a variety of activities, in spaces designed to help you meet and make friends.

- Access to health practitioner services like optometrists, nutritionists or physiotherapists.
- Social and emotional support.
- Maintaining friendships and relationships, in your home and out in the community.
- Support for you to engage with your local community and community groups, and participate in the activities you enjoy.
Support for your health and wellbeing
- Dietitians to help with food and nutrition needs.
- Speech therapists to help with speaking, swallowing or eating.
- Physiotherapists for exercise, safer and more confident movement, strength and balance.
- Podiatrists to assist with foot care.
- Optometrists to support your eye health.
- Visits to the GP, and in some cases, visits from a GP on site.
- Counselling services.
- Visits from dentists.
- Access to hearing specialists.
- Support for people requiring palliative or end-of-life care.
- Pet therapy and interacting with animals for emotional, social and physical health benefits.
Support for the things that bring meaning to your days
Residential aged care is about helping you to live well – and living well looks different for everyone. Whatever you love to do, whatever makes your day and your life meaningful, we’re here to help make it happen. Some examples from BaptistCare communities include:
- Curating and looking after gardens or veggie patches. One resident from Lalor even shares his homegrown tomatoes with staff and the wider Westmeadows community.
- Supporting your passion for music – from drummers to pianists, there are plenty of musical residents who practise and perform in BaptistCare communities. We often have visiting performers too.
- Trips out into the community: depending on what you like and where you are, many of our residents love to get out and about – to visit flower gardens, shops or cafes, the beach or even go hot air ballooning!
We’d love to hear about your personal story, passions and interests when you visit us for a tour.

Understanding the cost of residential aged care
Understanding the cost of residential aged care can feel complex but you don’t have to figure it out alone.
How much you will pay depends on a number of things, including your personal circumstances, needs and the type of room you would like to live in. You can read more about the costs of residential aged care on the Government’s My Aged Care website.

Accessing residential aged care
Moving into residential aged care is a big step and it’s natural to have questions along the way.
There is often a lot to think about – finding a new place to call home and navigating change. You don’t have to do it alone.
We are here to listen, answer your questions and guide you through each step.

Questions to ask when you visit an aged care home
When visiting an aged care home, it’s important to feel comfortable, confident and well-supported. Asking the right questions can help you understand whether a home feels like the right fit for you or someone you love.
You may find it helpful to ask the following questions:
- How does the home support individual health and wellness?
- Do staff seem warm and friendly? Are they easy to talk to?
- What activities and programs are available to help you stay active and engaged?
- What personal items and furnishings can you bring? Can you decorate your room with personal items to make it feel like home?
- Is the home pet-friendly, or are there visiting pet programs?
- How does the home support personal choices and person-centred care?
- Are there welcoming spaces to spend time with family and friends or celebrate special occasions?
