Baptcare Brookview Community

An aged care community with everything you need

Baptcare Brookview Community is a modern, comfortable aged care community that is opened in Westmeadows in March 2018. It provides excellent care for older people who can no longer live at home.

Brookview is a beautiful place to live. You will have your own room with an ensuite bathroom and there are many shared areas you can spend time in. Your family are welcome to use these when they visit you. And you will be part
of a strong, multicultural community that values every person.

We offer many activities and services for you to enjoy. There is even an on-site hairdresser. We also provide healthy and tasty meals, which are prepared every day in our kitchen. And you will have access to a wide range of health services, including trained nurses who are available at all times.

Most of the rooms at Brookview are concessional, which means there are places available for DHHS Public and Community Housing clients and other government supported clients.

Follow these steps to discover if you are eligible for concessional residential aged care in our Brookview Community:

  1. Step One: you will need an Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS). These assessments will determine whether you are eligible for concessional residential aged care. For more information and to organise an assessment, go to My Aged Care.
  2. Step Two: Call Baptcare on 13 22 78. We will then send you an application form
  3. Step Three: Fill out the application form and return to us

A place where you will feel at home

Baptcare Brookview Community is a residential aged care community for older people who need more care than they can receive at home. It is an inclusive community and we value every person. Residents can socialise at our regular activities and in our lovely shared areas. Or you can spend time in your own room, which is very spacious. We want our residents to feel respected and comfortable as soon as they enter our community, so that it truly feels like home.

Great design for easy living

Brookview is directly beside Broadmeadows Valley Park. There are lovely views of trees through the large windows and all of the rooms have lots of natural light. Residents’ rooms are in small groups that share dining rooms and lounge spaces. This makes it feel homely as you will see the same group of people regularly. And it makes it easy to get to meals from your room. There is also a ‘winter garden’ walkway that links parts of the community. It has a comfortable seating area, which is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.

Live the way you want

How you live your life at Brookview is up to you. If you want to join in with activities, there are always lots of games and exercises on offer. But if you would rather sit somewhere quiet or watch TV, you can do that instead. We even talk to our residents to find out what they want on the menu. And when it comes to little things, like if you want to sleep in one morning, our staff support those choices.

Modern design with a homely feel

Brookview is a modern, two-storey building with 90 private rooms. We can provide care for people who need all levels of care. As well as having your own room, you will also be able to spend time in our shared areas, which include:

Care tailored to your specific needs

Brookview is accredited to provide all levels of residential aged care (low to high), as well as short-term (respite) care, specialist dementia care and end-of-life (palliative) care. This means we can provide ‘ageing-in-place’ – residents can stay at Brookview even if their health changes or their needs increase. Our staff tailor care to each resident’s needs.

Nursing care

Our qualified and experienced staff provide excellent care. We have registered nurses on-site at all times. Team members look after the same group of residents, so residents know their carers well.

Medical care

Beyond 24/7 nursing care, other health services available on-site at Brookview include:

visiting doctors as well as yearly hearing specialist visit and yearly optometry

  • Hearing specialist
  • Optometry
  • Foot care and podiatry
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Diversional therapy
  • GP home visits.

For serious (acute) clinical issues, we work with an in-reach acute services program to help avoid unnecessary admissions to hospital.

Nutritional care

You will be offered a choice of tasty, healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All food is prepared fresh every day by chefs on-site. Meal options come at no additional cost to our residents. A dietitian helps to plan the menu and we can happily cater for specific dietary requirements (e.g. diabetic-friendly or gluten-free alternatives).

Keep up with your favourite pastimes

We have a lifestyle program with lots of activities for our residents. You can keep up your hobbies and interests by joining a cooking club, gardening group or Men’s Shed. We also offer games (e.g. bingo, cards), exercises and music therapy. There is always plenty to choose from at different times of the day, so you can find something that suits you. And the activities program is a great way to meet people.

Connected with our local community

We recognise the strong history of the Broadmeadows and Westmeadows areas, and the diverse cultures of people in our community. Brookview is welcoming and inclusive. We work with community groups and volunteers, and go on bus trips to local areas. Local schools also visit our residents and we often have performances from visiting entertainers. This helps our residents stay connected to their local community.

Room to host family and friends

Brookview is home for our residents, so we welcome visitors at any time of the day. Your friends and family can visit as often as they like. You can spend time in any of the areas in Brookview with your visitors. There are function rooms you can book for special occasions or if many visitors are coming at once. And your family can even bring pets to visit.

Pastoral care

Pastoral care is an important part of life at all Baptcare communities, including Brookview. Our chaplains are available to listen to residents and their families and journey alongside them, whatever their background or situation. We offer emotional and spiritual support, honouring each person’s unique spirituality and how they find meaning and purpose. Our chaplains also assist with prayer, worship, sacraments and other spiritual practices, including regular devotional and church services where appropriate.

Social and recreational support

There is plenty of socialising at Brookview. You’ll meet people through bus trips, games and regular happy hour socialising. And there are lots of different places to sit and chat, if you want a change of scenery. We also offer several on-site services, such as phone and internet packages and Foxtel in two of the living areas.

The comfort of familiar routines

Residents at Brookview have a consistent daily routine. But we also encourage you to try new activities and become involved in the community so you can maintain your interests and enjoy a full life.

Residential aged care

How do I know if residential aged care is right for my family member?

A change in health, or increasing concern about your family member’s frailty, safety or isolation at home can mean that aged care accommodation is the next step.

Carers at aged care homes can help residents with day-to-day tasks (such as cleaning, cooking, laundry); personal care (such as dressing, grooming, going to the toilet); or 24-hour nursing care (such as wound care or catheter care).

Residential aged care can also help people to stay connected with interests and with others.

Baptcare draws on over 70 years’ experience in aged care as well as the skills and commitment of our trained, understanding staff. We’re here to support families during a transition that can be challenging.
