Yes! We have Directors of Nursing who have started with Baptcare as registered nurses and personal care workers. We encourage career progression with an array of professional development opportunities both internal and external. Opportunities for career advancement also arise as a result of Baptcare’s growth. All vacancies are advertised internally on the Intranet, and staff are notified about vacancies via a weekly email alert.

Is it possible to moveĀ into different roles and areas of the organisation?

Yes, provided your qualifications and experience match the position description, and you are the best applicant for the vacancy.

Are job vacancies usually filled internally?

All position vacancies are advertised internally, and some are advertised externally. A fair and valid process is undertaken at all times to determine the best candidate for the role.

At Baptcare we are keen to promote internally whenever possible to provide our staff with opportunities for career progression within the organisation.

Do I need specific qualifications?

Dependent on which position you wish to apply for, there will be either desirable or essential qualifications. These will be listed in the position description which will be available on the Baptcare website when a position is advertised.

Do I have to be a Baptist or a Christian to work for Baptcare?

No. In in the same way we provide care for people regardless of race, sexual preference or religion, we also employ people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

What is the application process? How long before I hear back from Baptcare?

When a position is advertised, there will be a contact name and contact details included in the job advertisement. Your application will need to be emailed to the contact person by the closing date.  If there are specific application requirements they will be listed in the job advertisement. The manager will endeavour to contact you as soon as they have assessed the applications and decided if your application fits the position requirements. You may then be contacted by the manager and invited for an interview.

What is the interview process? How long will it take to complete?

Your application will be assessed on its merits, qualifications and relevant experience for the role by the manager. If the manager is interested in your application you will be invited to a face to face interview with usually at least two people on the interview panel. This may involve the manager of the position and one other person (sometimes an employee from HR). The interview itself can take approximately 45 minutes, where a series of questions will be asked to assess your suitability for the role. You may be asked back for a second interview with different people on the panel.  The process can take up to four weeks, and this includes reference checking and offering the position to the successful candidate.

How can I prepare for my interview?

When preparing for an interview it is important to think about the following:

Be yourself – we want to get to know you. It can be an anxiety provoking experience being interviewed, but aim to relax and stay focused. It is important that we establish how you will fit into Baptcare, and whether Baptcare is the right organisation for you.

Do your research – look at our website and gain an understanding of what we do and how we do it. Look at our vision and values, read through the position description and have an understanding of what is happening at Baptcare. Read our Annual Report. This shows that you are interested and enthusiastic to be a part of our team.

Put your professional hat on – be on time for the interview, know where you are going for the interview, how you are going to get there and how long it will take you. Think about what you will wear (and what is appropriate).

Ask us questions – before the interview prepare some questions that you would like to ask us. It shows that you are interested and will be an enthusiastic member of the Baptcare team. It is important that you have a full understanding of Baptcare and the position requirements before you commence also.
