Baptcare can confirm that as of 19 September 2020, we are reporting five new staff cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) associated with Wyndham Lodge (these new cases relate to contract staff who were tested in July and August and have recently notified Baptcare).

In addition, a further five staff have now recovered and been cleared by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Baptcare can confirm that as of today there are currently 41 active cases of COVID-19 linked to Baptcare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee:

  • There are currently three active cases among residents at Wyndham Lodge who are receiving care and support as they recover in a separate area of the facility – no change since yesterday.
  • In addition, there are 13 residents with active cases receiving care in hospital – no change since yesterday.
  • Currently, there are 25 active cases among staff who are isolating – no change since yesterday. We continue to be in touch with them regularly and support them in their recovery. For those staff who have been deemed ‘close contacts’, they continue to isolate and be tested as a precaution.
  • Sadly, to date, 24 residents have passed away with a COVID-19 positive diagnosis.

Another round of mass testing is scheduled for Monday, 21 September 2020.

The safety, health and well-being of residents remains paramount.Baptcare continues to work with the Australian and Victorian governments, Western Health and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to manage the COVID-19 outbreak.

We continue to work towards a COVID-free community, floor by floor. We have now cleared three wings at Wyndham Lodge which now means residents in these areas are free to move outside their rooms. Staff remain in full personal protective equipment (PPE) as a precaution.

Caring for all residents, staff and family members and safeguarding the most at-risk are our key priorities. While visitor restrictions are in place, we are working to communicate closely with residents and their nominated representatives, to maintain connections.

Baptcare remains focused and committed to providing our best care for all residents and to protect our staff – their health and well-being remains our unwavering number one priority.
