Sanctuary hits hole in one with Golf Day

Baptcare's 10th Annual Fundraising Golf Day started off with a hit in the early hours of Friday morning, with a stunning sunrise to welcome all competitors to the green.

With all proceeds going towards the Sanctuary program, the day helped raise much-needed revenue for our Sanctuary program, which focuses on providing aid to Sanctuary's transitional accommodation and related support services. These services aid in empowering homeless people seeking asylum to move towards living an independent life in the Australian community.

The morning saw over 115 players register to play and raised an outstanding $110,000 before the day was over.

The day's major sponsor, CHT Architects together with a record fifteen other corporate sponsors were all able to help deliver Baptcare's message through their generous support. They included our breakfast sponsor Moores, competition sponsors Grant Thornton, Hamlan Homes, Programmed Property Services and Toyota, hole sponsors Clarke Hopkins Clarke, Data #3, PPM, Telstra and Valeo Construction, and finally our event supporters Andy Anderson, Cater Care, Cockram Construction, Construct 4 and Laundry Solutions.

The winning team on the day was Valeo Constructions, with Programmed Property Services a close runner up. More details about the winners and their scores on the day can be found on our event site,

Robina Bradley, Baptcare Chairperson, said that the day was an incredible success and emphasised the importance of looking out for those in need.

"I want to thank you for your contribution to the wellbeing of others and for your contribution to the day." Robina said.

Players also heard from Sanctuary's Leonie Walker and resident Olantunji, who both noted that generosity is the key for programs like Sanctuary.

"When I arrived in Australia I had issues with my Visa and I was homeless for almost three months before I contacted the Red Cross who put me through to Baptcare. Since I came to Sanctuary, I have been able to complete a placement with CHT Architects…gain paid employment with and gain paid employment with Andy Andersons, and attend RMIT to help with some educational needs. I am happy today that I am better person because of Sanctuary," Olantunji said.

We extend our congratulations to all who competed on the day, and once again a big thank you to all our sponsors, event supporters, players and contributors to the day.
