John's Home Help story
In Home Care client John has been with Baptcare for just over 10 years as a recipient of our high level in home assistance care package. In his time with Baptcare John has had a number of different care officers that have helped him manage his home in Cranbourne and help him manage his day to day life.
“I am so grateful for Baptcare. Instead of going into a nursing home I can live in my own home and Baptcare sends someone to help me when I need it,” John said.
John’s current care officer, Kelly helps him with tasks that he can no longer perform around the house such as cooking and shopping while providing him with much needed companionship and advice. Kelly has also helped John employ a gardener that helps him maintain his beautiful garden that he planted all the way back in 1992 when he first moved into his Cranbourne home.
“Kelly is fantastic. She is always there and always helps me when I need her all while having a laugh and a joke around”, John said.
John is grateful for the freedom and independence that Baptcare has allowed him to enjoy by staying in his own home. With the assistance of his care working, he has been able to achieve some incredible things during his time with Baptcare.
John spoke about how, with the assistance of his care officer, he was able to visit the Springvale Cemetery where his mother and father are laid to rest and he painted a mural of the Virgin Mary.
“Baptcare is one of the best organisations. I can live properly and be happy. I like to be happy.”
