Devonport Mayor to launch Seniors Week at Baptcare Orana
Baptcare Orana is delighted to Launch the 2015 Seniors Week Expo.
DEVENPORT City Mayor, Mr Steve Martin, will launch Seniors Week in Devonport this year by officially opening an expo to be held at Baptcare Orana.
The expo, organised in collaboration with Devonport City Council, will be open to the public from 10am on Monday, 12 October offering Devonshire teas and the Mayor will officially open the expo at 10.30am

Other interesting activities include a presentation from local author Bob Horsmann, providing excerpts from his e-book “Wanderings of a ten pound Pom”, featuring his travels around Australia in the 1960’s and a Google Earth presentation by Tim from The Linc, which provides an interesting way of searching the history of our homes we lived in when we were young comparing them to the way they look now -commencing at 11am following which, Advocacy Tasmania will provide a brief presentation about their services.
City of Devonport Lions Club will provide a BBQ from 12 Noon and entertainment will be provided from 1pm to 3pm featuring local well known musician and songwriter, Hank Koopman.
The expo will also feature interactive exhibits including a display from the Devonport Lapidary Society, demonstrating the transformation of rough stones to polished gems; a miniature working quarry, stone crusher and steam train. There will be complimentary hand massages available and the Pit Stop program will provide free Blood pressure and general health checks.
Other exhibitors will cover a wide range of services and activities found locally in Devonport and surrounding areas: Australian Red Cross, Baptcare Karingal, Community Care NESB , Delta Dogs, Devonport Bowls Club, Devonport Bridge Club, Devonport Community House Men’s Shed, Ingenia’s Devonport Garden Village, Devonport Online Access Centre, Don River Railway, DVA Men’s Peer Health Educators, The Linc, Fishcare Tas, Independent Living Centre Tas, Integrated Living, Island Care, Mersey Community Care Association, NW Film Society and Priority One Independent Living Mobility.
Radio 7AD will broadcast live from Baptcare Orana on the day.
