Construction commences at Norlane

Last week we marked the start of construction of the affordable housing component of our Norlane Integrated Community Project with an event attended by Government and community representatives.

The $43.5 million project includes a 90 bed residential aged care facility and 52 affordable rental homes for families and individuals on low incomes. It will also feature a community centre, library, men’s shed, coffee shop and playground, increasing the amenity and creating jobs in the Norlane community.

“Baptcare wants to make sure that the most vulnerable in the community are not left behind and have access to the care and services that they desperately need,” our CEO, Graham Dangerfield, said on the day.

Baptcare is partnering on this project with the Australian Government, who will provide $7.25 million towards its completion.

Federal Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson said, “We want to expand the quality of affordable housing rental options for families, older people and people with disabilities.”

We thank the local community and all of our partners for sharing this milestone event with Baptcare and look forward to sharing updates over the coming months as the development takes shape.
