A sanctuary for those in need Christmas Appeal 2021

A sanctuary for those in need Christmas Appeal 2021

Working in the Baptcare casework team supporting people seeking asylum is difficult but rewarding, we really can make a difference.
Anne*, Baptcare Case worker

This Christmas, your gift will help Baptcare to continue to support even more people like Ehsan and Imani who are seeking asylum in Australia.

Baptcare receives no government funding for Sanctuary and this year, due to COVID-19, providing services has been especially challenging. Our staff work tirelessly to support clients to stay safe and to continue to access basic services.

A donation of $300 can provide a person with case worker support for a month. The Baptcare Sanctuary program would not be possible without the support and partnership of our many generous donors like you.

Please donate today, your contribution will make a real difference.

People like Ehsan*
Ehsan is an engaging and quiet man. While helping him with his assessment interview, I realised the trauma he'd been carrying. He was persecuted due to his religion and fled. His family and children are still in his home country and he doesn’t know if they are ok. He cried as he shared his story.

Ehsan had his first visa assessment interview this week after arriving in Australia in 2019 and applying for asylum. Through the many agencies we partner with, we were able to help Ehsan access legal advice and prepare for his interview.

And people like Imani*
Imani fled a war-torn country while pregnant, she now lives in a Baptcare community house with her young child. She is finally living in safety after a dangerous journey, and she is eagerly accessing opportunities to learn and participate in community life.

She has been practicing using public transport with a volunteer and her child has started childcare so she can focus on her English lessons and secure work.
