The Homeless Project is run through our Community Nursing Service, providing basic health checks such as blood pressure and glucose tests, to the homeless and those as risk of homelessness.
As a group, the homeless and those at risk of homelessness experience barriers to seeking medical care. So we take the service to them.
James was at risk of homelessness and was dealing with multiple health issues including cancer, depression and addiction.
Now he is doing much better. Our nurse Mel visits him fortnightly.
“If I wasn’t there, James would still be alive, but he wouldn’t have the quality of life that he has now. It would be devastating to see the program close,” Mel says.
This service is provided without government funding. We need your support for us to continue to assist the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in our community. Help us meet our target of $50,000 this financial year.
