Aged care volunteer opportunities

Residential Aged Care

At Baptcare's Residential Aged Care sites, volunteers enjoy working with a variety of activities and programs. How Baptcare's volunteers help is limited only by their imaginations and may include:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Chatting
  • Gardening
  • Wood working
  • Walking
  • Outings
  • The men’s shed programs
  • Memory, card and board games
  • Knitting
  • Bingo

Volunteers can help by sharing their skills, talents and knowledge: one such lady volunteered her time to run craft sessions after she had completed an appliqué course to share her newly acquired skills.

Other volunteers come for a chat. Just by listening, these volunteers help make the residents feel valued, included and informed of community developments.

Some volunteers bring their children and/or grandchildren along, brightening up the residents' days as they hear the children laughing, talking and playing. Baptcare has a number of volunteers that bring specially trained pet dogs with them. Some of the residents’ best days are the ones where they can pat or play with a pet.

Community Aged Care

Community Aged Care is looking for volunteer visitors to visit elderly clients in their own homes who are isolated due to lack of public transport (or access to it), health issues and remote locations.

Baptcare is recruiting volunteer visitors to interact with these clients; have a cup of tea, a chat, and bring a smile to an elderly person’s face. These visits become very important to the clients; they begin to look forward to their weekly visitor.
Baptcare's Day Centres

Baptcare's Day Centres provide activities for its clients. Volunteers are needed for client interaction; chatting; and listening, helping with art or craft sessions, playing cards or board games, helping with morning and afternoon teas and generally making the clients’ days happy. Baptcare also has volunteers who help with administration.
