Baptcare’s first Golf Day has generated a fantastic show of support from local businesses and corporate supporters with over $52,000 raised!
On the 1st of May over 80 players gathered at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club to enjoy a day on the green while supporting vulnerable families and children in Melbourne’s north and west.
Golfers of all levels of experience took to the course to enjoy 18 holes of golf, which also included three charity holes. On one charity hole, the ‘Speed Cop’ handed out infringement notices for a range of ‘offences’ including improper use of a golf club, ?earthmoving without a permit, impersonating a golfer, dangerous/reckless driving and attempted murder of the game of golf.
Following 18 holes of golf, players retired to the club house where two of Australia’s great talents and characters, Wilbur Wilde and John Blackman, hosted a gala dinner.
The dynamic duo entertained the audience well into the evening and encouraged guests to bid generously during the live auction, at which ten valuable items were sold to boost the total fundraising tally.
Baptcare’s Chief Executive, Mr Jeff Davey, was incredibly pleased with the result.
“Following the bushfires and the recently announced recession, Victoria is going through a difficult period. It is inspiring to see that despite other needs and financial constraints, local businesses and our suppliers are still willing to support local children and families,” Mr Davey said.
The funds raised on the day will assist with the ongoing operation of services for families and children provided in the north and west regions of Melbourne, which continue to face significant shortfalls in government funding and therefore rely on community support to remain viable.
Baptcare’s golf day was proudly supported by principle sponsor Nationwide Health and Aged Care Services and major sponsors Soul Australia, CGU Workers Compensation and Nursing Australia.
Supporting sponsors were Adapt Heating and Cooling, Upstream Technology, VIP Plumbing, Star21, Evoco Design, Colorpoint, D&A Pulitano, Kelly & Kelly Property, P&D Richards, Australian Home Care, Joseph's Chain and Health Super.
