Baptcare is set to open two new offices and recruit 21 new staff as a result of being selected by the Tasmanian Government to lead the delivery of the new ‘Gateway Services’ and ‘Integrated Family Support Services’ within the North and the South West regions of Tasmania.
The two new programs are part of the government reforms in disability, child, youth and family services announced by the Minister for Human Services, Lin Thorp, on March 20th.
Baptcare has provided disability, child and family services to the Victorian community for over 20 years. The new funding will see Baptcare expand these programs into Tasmania for the first time, and as a result, open new offices in Hobart and Launceston, providing 21 new jobs.
Baptcare’s Chief Executive, Mr Jeff Davey, welcomed the expansion and said the growth will provide positive outcomes for all involved.
“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to expand our family services division into Tasmania for the first time. Baptcare places strong focus on providing empowering and sustainable solutions to every individual in our care, and we look forward to working with our new partners and the Tasmanian government to serve the Tasmanian population,” Mr Davey said.
The new ‘Gateway Service’ will provide a visible entry and referral point for vulnerable families, people with disabilities and professionals to access family support and other specialist services. The ‘Integrated Family Support Service’ will provide a comprehensive range of family services, providing support for an additional 3,400 families and children across the state.
Baptcare will be the central point of contact for individuals, families and other agencies that require support and access to services in the North and South West of Tasmania. Baptcare will work in partnership with a number of other service providers in these areas, to deliver quality services and key outcomes to families, their children and people with disabilities.
Mission Australia was selected as the lead agency to roll out the Gateway Services and Integrated Family Support Services in the North West and the South East regions of Tasmania.
