Baptcare’s family services division, Abercare Family Services, has adopted a new name and will officially operate as Baptcare from the 1st February 2009.

After in-depth discussion, it was agreed that a new brand name would properly distinguish the service as being part of Baptcare.

“Creating a sense of togetherness is fundamental to everything Baptcare represents and the new name properly reflects a sense of unity. Baptcare's Family Services division is an expanding division and we are extremely excited to address the needs of more individuals in the local community,” Acting Chief Executive Dr Andrew Curtis said.

In 1981, the Aberfeldie Baptist Church became involved with emergency childcare services to assist families and children facing crises or ‘at risk’ situations. As the services continued to grow, Baptcare accepted full operations of the service. The name Abercare Family Services was chosen to represent the connection with the Aberfeldie Church.

Today, Baptcare's Family Services division provides quality care to 800 individuals including disadvantaged families, youth, children and people with a disability.
