Giving children a Christmas to remember

Each year, Baptcare's family services division, Abercare, holds a Christmas party for the children and families that received services throughout the year. Thanks to the support of numerous individuals and local businesses, the 2008 Christmas party was a fun and free afternoon of festivities for 450 families at Moonee Valley Racecourse.

The party included an animal farm, pony rides, a jumping castle, arts and crafts activities, face painting, games including egg and spoon races, a fire truck, massages, show bags, cakes, face painting, hair spray, a band, roving entertainment and a BBQ. For the children attending, the highlight of the day was a visit from Santa, who arrived with an array of gifts and a listening ear for those last minute Christmas wishes.

This event brings an afternoon of joy to many families who endure hardship throughout the year, which makes it an important event on the annual calendar.
