Karana Community

Karana Community is an aged care facility in the leafy Melbourne suburb of Kew. The name Karana is an aboriginal word meaning “place of peace and rest from work”.

Karana has 93 residential aged care beds, both high and low care. There 20 independent living apartments, and one respite bed.

Long-term care residents are accommodated in spacious single or twin share rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Meals are prepared on-site by the chef and offer residents a variety of choices to meet their dietary needs and tastes.

A team of dedicated registered nurses, personal care workers and therapy staff provide individualised care. Staff consult with residents and their families to work together as a team to meet residents' needs and preferences.

Karana’s activity program is designed to be varied and interesting with a mix of group and individual activities, tailored to suit the residents’ interests. Residents' artwork adorns Karana's walls.

Families and friends are welcome to join in and there are regular visits from local entertainers. Sessions from our talented music therapist are a highlight of the program.
