Low Cost Housing

Baptcare’s affordable housing project in Wangaratta – Swan Court – was established in 1995 when the joint vision of Baptcare and Wangaratta Baptist Church came to fruition. In partnership with the Victorian Government‘s Department of Planning and Development, Swan Court Community Housing was established.

Renting in the private market can be out of the reach of many; Swan Court provides an affordable alternative. Situated in Swan Street Wangaratta, Swan Court, with its eleven spacious 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units with their own back yard and garage, is home to a diverse community from the elderly to young families and from singles to couples and family groups. Today the Wangaratta Baptist Church still plays an integral role in connecting with the residents, and together with Baptcare and residents, participates in decision making meetings and social functions.

To be eligible for Swan Court, applicants need to be on a low or moderate income and be eligible for the public housing waiting list. Rent is means tested according to the income of the tenants.
