Respite

Baptcare is committed to providing respite for carers and aims to improve access and the quality of services it provides.

Residential Respite

Baptcare currently provides respite in all of its residential facilities. This consists of planned respite, overnight or for periods of two weeks or more.

Community House Overnight Respite

overnight respite facilities

This is provided at Southaven Community in Bentleigh and access is open to the carers of the frail elderly. Overnight respite is currently only available from Friday to Sunday afternoon (Friday and Saturday evenings), but this will expand in the near future. In Home Respite

This is currently only provided to clients who have a Community Aged Care Package (CACP or EACH) with Baptcare. This service is provided in the home of the person receiving the package and is usually provided for a few hours, but can be arranged for overnight or longer periods.

Centre Based Respite

These services are provided on a daily basis and aim to provide a social or recreational experience together with releasing the family carer from their role during this period.

Baptcare Buddy Program

Where appropriate, Baptcare can link clients and carers to other clients and carers with similar interests and backgrounds. This program is designed to create meaningful relationships for clients whilst providing a level of support to carers. This is usually provided in conjunction with a support worker to enable the older person to make friends, and /or take part in recreation activities or group programs. At present this is only provided to clients who have a Community Aged Care Package (CACP or EACH) with Baptcare.
