Respite
Baptcare is committed to providing respite for carers and aims to improve access and the quality of services it provides.
Residential Respite
Baptcare currently provides respite in all of its residential facilities. This consists of planned respite, overnight or for periods of two weeks or more.
Community House Overnight Respite

This is provided at Southaven in Bentleigh. Access is open to carers of frail elderly people. Overnight respite is currently only available from Friday to Sunday afternoon (Friday and Saturday evenings), but this will expand in the near future. Download our Overnight Respite brochure (PDF, 250kb)
Centre Based Day Respite
These services are provided on a daily basis and aim to give older people a social or recreational experience, while giving carers a break. Day Respite services are offered at Southaven in Bentleigh, Brindabilla in Oakleigh and Karingal in Devonport.
Baptcare Buddy Program
Where appropriate, Baptcare can link clients and carers to other clients and carers with similar interests and backgrounds. This program is designed to create meaningful relationships for clients while supporting carers. This is usually provided in conjunction with a support worker to enable the older person to make friends, and/or take part in recreation activities or group programs. At present this is only provided to clients who have a Community Aged Care Package (CACP or EACH) with Baptcare.
For further details of any of these initiatives, contact us or email cac@baptcare.org.au
