Church Nursing Service: District Nursing and Podiatry

Church Nursing Service (CNS) has provided the City of Moreland’s older community with head to toe nursing and personal care for over 40 years.
It was originally established in 1964 when Sister Ivy West and her team began to provide home nursing care to elderly members of the church. In 1972 the service came under the administration of Baptist Social Services, now Baptcare.
The staff at CNS are committed registered nurses, personal carers and podiatrists who can help with all needs, whether it is providing treatment to Department of Veteran Affairs recipients, health education, attending a wound, administering injections, helping to manage medication or even take a shower.
This service is offered to those that live in the Moreland area, with a referral from a doctor, hospital, an informal carer or the person themselves. An assessment visit typically occurs within a week of referral.
The nursing service operates between 7am and 4pm, seven days a week. A professional podiatry service also functions from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Care recipients who are not on a Community Aged Care Package will be required to pay a fee for nursing care provided by CNS. The amount charged varies.
