About Aged Care Nursing
Aged care nurses provide personalised care to elderly people in the community in their homes, and in aged care facilities. It is a rewarding and challenging area of health care that will help you develop your nursing skills, especially focusing on astute assessment skills, great communication ability and planning and management expertise.
Baptcare operates six residential aged care facilities that care for 750 elderly people, and provides community aged care services to over 2,000 older Victorians across 20 sites.
Key Features of the program
The 12 month residential and community aged care program will offer:
- 1 x 4 months rotation through a metropolitan residential aged care site;
- 1 x 4 months rotation through a regional residential aged care site (appropriate accommodation will be provided during the regional rotation); and
- 1 x 4 months rotation through an acute sector rotation.
Baptcare also offers an opportunity to complete a rotation in community aged care either in case management or through community nursing for a four month period at the end of the 12 month program. Interested graduates should state their interest to do so in their application. Normal salary increases would still apply after completing the 12 month program if this option was chosen.
