Aged Care Nursing

Aged care nursing offers an interesting and rewarding career path with plenty of diversity and opportunity for professional development. Nurses provide personalised care to elderly people with an array of health conditions, in a range of settings including the community, in their homes, and in aged care facilities.

Working in this interesting and complex area of health care will help you develop and use your clinical nursing skills, especially focusing on astute assessment abilities, great communication skills, and planning and management expertise.

If you are a registered nurse and are considering beginning or rejoining your career in the specialist field of aged care nursing, we can support you with an orientation and education program to help you pick up any skills that you need.

For returning nurses there is a cash bonus incentive program run by the Department of Health to encourage nurses to return to the workplace.

There is also a range of scholarships available for nurses and carers working in aged care: for more information see the websites of Bringing Nurses Back into the Workforce and Royal College of Nursing, Australia.

Baptcare operates seven residential aged care facilities that care for over 850 elderly people, and provides community aged care services to over 2,000 older Victorians and Tasmanians across 26 sites.
