Respite Activity Program (RAP)

The Respite Activity Program offers children and teenagers with a disability a fun, recreational, community-based outing during school holidays and one Saturday per month whilst providing families and care-givers with the opportunity for a day of respite.

This program aims to provide your loved one with the chance to experience new and exciting things, including recreational and entertainment based excursions within your local community.

The program is offered in the North and North West regions of Tasmania, catering for varying levels of ability.

An assessment interview is required to ensure that this program is right for your loved one.

The program works with you and your loved one. Programs are planned during the activities program calendar.

Eligibility

This program is open to:

  • People with a disability aged between 5 and 18 years.
  • Resides in North or North West Tasmania.

What is the cost?

There is a cost of $15 per day, depending on the activity. This covers the cost for the day and any entrance fees.

What does our Respite Activity Program provide?

This program provides:

  • Assessment with matching the individual to the appropriate recreation program.
  • Trained and professional staff and volunteers to facilitate the program.
  • A regular calendar of new activities per quarter.
  • Occasional additional camps.

Referral process

Referral to our RAP is managed through the Baptcare Gateway intake and assessment process which considers a range of factors, including family circumstances, the child’s disability and other supports.
