Who can refer to Baptcare Gateway?
Referrals can be made by the wider community, families, individuals, child protection workers, service providers and other professionals.
Gateway accepts referrals on children and families where there are concerns about their wellbeing.
What happens after a referral is made?
When deciding the best support for children, young people and families we may:
- Talk with individuals and families about what assistance they need and how best they can be supported.
- Undertake an initial needs assessment to clarify the best supports to be provided.
- Talk to professionals who work with the family or individual to better understand their needs.
- Undertake pre-arranged home visits.
- Provide information, advice and referral to our family support services or disability specific services and other suitable community supports.
- Consult with Aboriginal services and other culturally appropriate services to ensure a sensitive response to families and individuals.
- We may conduct a risk assessment and consult with a community-based Child Protection worker if there are serious concerns about children’s safety.
