What is Child FIRST?
Child FIRST provides a central referral point to a range of community based family services and other supports for vulnerable children and families within Victoria.
This enables families to access the services and supports they need, at the time they need them, to build their capacity to support their children’s healthy development.
How can I find out more about the Integrated Family Services program?
All referrals for this service are made through Child FIRST.

What do I do if I know a child is at risk?
If you believe a child is at significant risk of harm, please contact the Child Protection Intake in your local area. Please contact the police if you are concerned for a child’s immediate safety.
Who is able to access Baptcare’s Postnatal Depression Program?
Mothers who have been diagnosed or have symptoms of Postnatal Depression, who live in the local government area of Brimbank and have a child under the age of two.
Who can make a referral to the Postnatal Program?
Referrals are accepted from community members, doctors or self-referrals.
Who can refer to the Families First Program?
Referrals are only accepted from the Child Protection program. For further information, please contact queries.childprotection@dhs.vic.gov.au.
Who can refer to the PASDS program?
Referrals are only accepted from the Child Protection program. For further information, please contact queries.childprotection@dhs.vic.gov.au.
If I do not live in the North or South-West regions of Tasmania, can I still gain access into Gateway?
Yes. The service is available to people across Tasmania. Please contact 1800 171 233 to find out how we can assist your needs.
I need support to care for my child but I don’t know who to turn to, can you help?
Baptcare is dedicated to supporting your needs. We support people in the North and west Metropolitan regions of Melbourne, Bendigo and the North and South-West regions of Tasmania.
Our caseworkers will work with you to determine you needs. The first step is to contact your nearest office.
